Today I want to introduce a brief photo  collection of “Ema” -  wooden wishing plaques that can be purchased at many Japanese shrines. People write their wishes or prayers and then hang it up on the shrine grounds.

I love reading people's wishes because within seconds it becomes obvious how no matter our physical appearance or the variety of languages we speak we long for the same things.
